TERMS and CONDITIONS

1. Services outlined in this contract will commence on ____________________ and will apply to any services requested in the future. In the event that the client returns home prior to the completion of the last scheduled visit of the reserved time frame (s)he must notify the pet sitter promptly to avoid charges for unwanted visits.
2. The fee per visit is $________plus any assessed fees. In the event that additional visits are needed the pet sitter must be notified promptly. Payment for additional visits will be made at the agreed upon contract rate.
3. Payment for initial services is required up-front. Checks made payable to The Next Best Thing Pet Care can be left for collection by the pet sitter on the kitchen counter. A daily report on the welfare of your pets and home will be left in its place. In the event that additional services are needed or fees are assessed the amount due will be written on the final daily report. Payment can be mailed to our office or handed directly to the pet sitter when your keys are returned.
4. A $25 returned check fee will be applied to your account in the event that the check is returned. A 25% service charge will accrue on accounts after 30 days, and at 30 day intervals until the account balance is paid in full.
5. The client agrees that this signed contract will remain valid for future services and authorizes The Next Best Thing Pet Care to accept phone in and/or email reservations. The client also authorizes the pet sitter to enter the home without any additional contracts or written authorization.
6. The pet sitter is authorized to provide care as outlined in this contract. The Next Best Thing Pet Care is authorized to seek emergency care, with release of all transport, treatment, and expense liabilities. Should the specified veterinarian be unavailable pet sitter is authorized to approve medical and/or emergency care (not including euthanasia) as recommended by the attending veterinarian. Client agrees to reimburse The Next Best Thing Pet Care for any and all expenses incurred.
7. The pet sitter is authorized to approve emergency repair services to the home in the event of equipment malfunction including, but not limited to, heating/air conditioning, water leaks, or power outages. The client agrees to reimburse The Next Best Thing Pet Care for any and all expenses incurred on your behalf.
8. The client authorizes the pet sitter to replenish pet food supplies if they should be depleted during your absence. The client will reimburse The Next Best Thing Pet Care for the cost of replenishing the food plus an assessed service charge of $10.
9. In the event of inclement weather, extreme heat, or natural disasters you authorize the pet sitter to use his or her best judgment in caring for your pets. Client also agrees to hold pet sitter and The Next Best Thing Pet Care harmless for consequences related to those decisions.
10. In the event of a personal emergency or illness of the pet sitter the client authorizes The Next Best Thing Pet Care to make arrangements for another qualified sitter to assume the care of your pets. The pet sitter will notify the client in cases such as this.
11. All pets must be currently vaccinated and proof of vaccination must be provided to the pet sitter during consultation. In the event that the pet sitter is bitten and proof of vaccination cannot be provided the client will assume responsibility for any and all costs and damages incurred by the pet sitter.
12. The pet sitter agrees to provide services in a caring and trustworthy manner. The client agrees to hold The Next Best Thing Pet Care and the pet sitter harmless of any and all claims against the sitter and the company except for those that are the direct result of willful misconduct.
13. The Next Best Thing Pet Care reserves the right to terminate this contract at any time if the company or the sitter determines that caring for the client’s pet(s) poses a health or safety risk to the pet or the sitter. The client authorizes the company to place the pet in a kennel and agrees to cover all costs associated with this action. The client will be notified prior to the pet’s placement in a kennel facility. The Next Best Thing Pet Care also reserves the right to terminate this contract at any time due to lack of payment and or any action on the part of the client that directly results in failure to follow the terms of this contract.

We propose to provide the utmost care when caring for you pets and your home. Due to the unpredictability of animals we are unable to accept any responsibility for mishaps of an extreme or unusual nature. We are also unable to accept responsibility for anything that may happen to an animal that is allowed outdoors while unattended.
